🔵 Multisite Cisco Wireless and Network Deployment

Overview:

This project was carried out for one of Turkey’s largest multi-product manufacturing conglomerates, headquartered in Istanbul/Kayseri. The objective was to transition from Aruba network infrastructure to Cisco solutions without causing any production downtime.

Scope and Implementation:

  • Network Migration: Seamless replacement of Aruba network devices with Cisco solutions across multiple production sites.
  • Redundant Core Switches: Cisco Catalyst switches were deployed in a redundant design across data centers and regional sites to ensure network reliability.
  • Wireless Infrastructure: Cisco 9800 series Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) were deployed redundantly in the data centers to manage wireless networks across factories.
  • Mobile Device Optimization: Roaming capabilities were optimized to ensure uninterrupted connectivity for barcode scanners and handheld terminals, critical for production tracking.
  • Mobility Groups: Implemented Cisco mobility groups to eliminate the need for reauthentication and disconnection as roaming staff moved between sites.
  • Firewall Integration: Routing issues were resolved and existing Fortigate and Check Point firewalls were reconfigured to support the new Cisco architecture.

Achievements:

  • Ensured zero production interruption during the network migration process.
  • Delivered high-availability network design with redundant Cisco switches and wireless controllers.
  • Improved wireless roaming performance, enabling real-time data flow from handheld devices used in production.
  • Enhanced user experience and productivity by enabling seamless authentication across all locations.
  • Established robust security and routing with fully integrated firewall configurations.

Technologies Used:

  • Cisco Catalyst Switches (Core & Distribution)
  • Cisco 9800 Series Wireless LAN Controllers
  • Fortigate & Check Point Firewalls
  • Cisco Mobility Groups
  • Aruba (legacy equipment being replaced)

Impact:

The project modernized the entire network infrastructure of a large-scale, multisite manufacturing organization, resulting in a more reliable, secure, and high-performing environment. It ensured continuous production operations and created a scalable wireless architecture tailored for industrial mobility needs.
